KENEFICK, Texas - A Liberty County pastor has been arrested on multiple charges, including allegations of sexually abusing a child.
New Life Kenefick says George Finney, 52, has been relieved of his duties following the allegations.

According to court records, Finney is charged with sexual abuse of a child - continuous, indecency with a child by exposure, and assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation.
The charges all stem from 2024, but records show he was charged last month and arrested on Monday. His bond was set at $50,000 per charge.
Suspect identified as pastor
According to court documents, Finney was the pastor of New Life Kenefick. According to the church website, he was set in as senior pastor in May 2016.
On Thursday morning, New Life Kenefick sent FOX 26 the following statement:
"We, the Leadership of New Life Kenefick are aware of the serious allegations and criminal charges involving our Pastor George Finney. From the moment we were made aware of these allegations, He was relieved of his duties here at our Church.
We are deeply saddened and our hearts go out to all who are being affected by this, especially the victim and her family.
We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and the legal process.
Our church takes the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable individuals very seriously.
This being an ongoing investigation, we will not comment any further.
We ask for privacy for those involved."
