Hurricane Isaias: Desantis gives post-storm update
Florida Governor Ron Desantis delivered remarks on Saturday morning, hours after Isaias made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane in the Destin area. Desantis was joined by Florida's Attorney General James Uthmeier and Jared Perdue, chief of the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

Hurricane Isaias: Florida Sheriff confirms 1 death
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons is reporting 1 death related to Hurricane Isaias due to a fallen tree. Isaias has now been downgraded to a post tropical cyclone, but threats still remain.
According to the Emergency Management Agency in Birmingham, Alabama, one person was killed in the city when a massive tree fell on a house overnight, trapping multiple people inside, FOX Weather reports. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said there have been two deaths in the state linked to Isaias.
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said one person died in the Pensacola, Florida, area, also from a fallen tree. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday that there were two Isaias-releated deaths in Florida.

Isaias a post-tropical cyclone

Isaias was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, or a former tropical storm or hurricane that has lost its tropical characteristics—such as a warm core and central thunderstorms—and is no longer fueled primarily by warm ocean water, according to FOX Weather. All tropical storm and storm surge warnings have been discontinued.

However, life-threatening storm surges were still possible in the area, along with several inches of rain and possible tornadoes through the weekend.
Flooding in Florida, Alabama
Isaias flooded roads in Destin, while a social media video showed a roof being ripped off an inn in Pensacola.
Parts of southern Alabama also were flooded, with officials in Mobile reporting downed trees and power lines. Roads in Houston County, which is in the southeastern corner of the state, were closed because of similar conditions.
