BEAUMONT, Texas - An inmate at United States Penitentiary Beaumont is dead after a reported fight took place on Wednesday.

What we know:
Officials say around 1 p.m. employees were notified of multiple incarcerated individuals fighting and responded to the incident.
When they arrived, the employees contained the incident and began life-saving emergency measures for those who needed it.
EMS was called to take Larnie Brewer to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Brewer, 53, had been sentenced to a 68-month sentence in the Northern District of Illinois for bank robbery. He had been in custody since April 9, 2025.
A second inmate was treated for minor injuries at the penitentiary.
USP Beaumont stated the FBI was notified about the incident.
No other employees or incarcerated individuals were injured.
