Inmate prepared for execution, human remains identified, Lockheed Martin losing workers

LIVINGSTON, Texas (AP) — A Texas inmate convicted in a shooting rampage that left five people dead outside Houston in 1997 says he's prepared for his execution. Coy Wesbrook's lethal injection is set for Wednesday evening in Huntsville. It would be the fourth this year in Texas. His lawyer says court appeals to block the execution are exhausted.

DALLAS (AP) — Dallas police say human remains discovered under a highway bridge have been identified as a woman missing since December. Police say the death of Marisol Espinosa is being investigated as a homicide. Relatives of the mother of three children began looking for the hairdresser when she failed to show up at work last year. Espinosa's SUV was found abandoned in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

 (AP) — Lockheed Martin says its aeronautics division is seeking to part with up to 1,000 workers as it works to stay competitive and keep its staff aligned with orders. The company is offering the voluntary program to mid-level employees in Fort Worth and six other locations. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics makes fighter jets including the F-35 and the F-22.

PHOENIX (AP) — An Arizona man accused of plotting an attack at a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas faces a second day of tough questioning from a prosecutor about his knowledge of the shooting. Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem insisted he knew nothing beforehand about the attack. Kareem underwent questioning about whether he was told that Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi were planning to attack an Arizona military base.

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — A member of the Cornell University men's basketball team has been arrested on rape charges. Xavier Eaglin is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sex act. The freshman from Raywood, Texas, was arraigned Monday.
