HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Lake Jackson native Selena Quintanilla was born on this day in 1971.
She'd go on to perform concerts that would pack the Astrodome, taking the RodeoHouston attendance record days before being shot dead at age 23.
Since then, she's been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Starting four years ago, people from around the world have been gathering in Corpus Christi for the Fiesta de la Flor, honoring Selena's birthday.
Those Houstonians who couldn't make it had their own festival.
