Highland Village shooting: Suspect struck in officer-involved shooting
What we know:
Officials said the shooting occurred near Drexl Drive and Westheimer around 7:15 p.m.
Houston police said during a briefing on Monday night, an officer was conducting an on-view patrol on Westheimer.
Officials stated an officer ran a plate on a Black sedan-type vehicle in a parking lot after police received multiple calls on it with a Black male inside.
Authorities said the officer called for backup as the vehicle came back stolen out of Fort Bend County.

After multiple officers arrived, police said the Black male, who officials believe was the only person inside, was given multiple commands by officials to exit the vehicle to conduct an investigation. Authorities said the Black male, who was approximately 35-years-old, did not comply with those commands.
Houston police stated a team of officers then began to approach the vehicle when the driver's side door opened up, the Black male inside made a movement as to show officers he had a potential weapon.
That's when shots were fired by officers on the scene.
Following the conclusion of the shooting, authorities said the officers backed off, waited until the scene was secure. A drone was then used to look and see if there was any movement in the vehicle.
Officials said after the area was deemed safe, the Black male was removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing including the review of body-worn cameras, which officials said will be released within the next 30 days, per department policy.
No officers were injured.
What we don't know:
Officials said it's unclear if the suspect actually had a weapon before the shooting occurred.
Authorities could not say how many shots were fired or how many officers fired their weapons.
Houston police said they will be releasing the names of the officers involved on Tuesday.
