Houston River Oaks: Two suspects shot, killed during apartment invasion, police say

An investigation is underway after an alleged home invasion led to two out of three suspects being shot and killed on Thursday. FOX 26's Jillian Hartmann shared the latest information as of Thursday afternoon.

FULL VIDEO: Houston police provide update following deadly shooting on Essex Street

The Houston Police Department provides the latest information following a deadly shooting/home burglary that occurred on Essex Street on Thursday morning.

What we know:

Houston police said officers were called to an apartment complex along Essex Lane near Westheimer Road around 10 a.m. Thursday for a burglary and home invasion.

According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, the three suspects confronted a man in the apartment after using a large piece of concrete to break down the door.

The man in the apartment allegedly got a  gun and shot at the suspects, striking two of them.

One suspect was found dead on scene, and the other died at a hospital.

Police say the third suspect took off in a dark-colored SUV. Officers are searching for the suspect.

The home invasion is believed to have been targeted as officers say they found a large amount of narcotics including marijuana and THC inside the apartment. Police suspect no danger to the public.

The man who shot the suspects is reportedly speaking with investigators about the invasion. Lt. Crowson says the man may be charged for the narcotics.
