New survey says Houston is second least-safe US big city

A new study ranked Houston as the second-least safe big city in America coming in just behind Memphis. The study evaluated 83 large cities based on crime, traffic fatalities, and environmental threats. Houston scored poorly across the board recording high rates of violent and property crimes. The city also struggles with elevated traffic deaths and faces a very high disaster risk. Plano was ranked as the safest city within Texas.
