HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating a carjacking attempt that left a woman injured in the Third Ward early Friday morning.
What we know:
Around 2:30 a.m., Houston Police Department officers received a call about a shooting in progress near the intersection of Eagle Street and Live Oak Street.
A woman in her mid-20s was visiting her boyfriend when an man approached her with a firearm and tried to steal her vehicle. During the encounter, the suspect pistol-whipped the victim in the back of the head and then shot her in the shoulder.
Police say the victim managed to escape and run to her boyfriend's house to call 911. The suspect left the scene without taking the vehicle.
Houston Fire Department paramedics took the victim to an area hospital, and she was last said to be in stable condition.
Authorities describe the suspect as a Black male who was wearing dark clothing and a black and white hat at the time of the incident.
What we don't know:
Police have not located the suspect or identified him.
