HOUSTON - Expect major traffic delays in northwest Houston along the Northwest Freeway due to a heavy truck accident.

Houston Transtar is reporting all westbound lanes on US-290 before FM-1960 are closed.

The Cy-Fair Fire Department states the roadway will be closed for the next few hours due to an overturned 18-wheeler that appears to have lost its load.

Five people were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

According to the fire department, the HAZMAT team is on scene to help with a fuel spill.

Drivers are suggested to find alternate routes.
