HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Thinking of ordering your Valentine some chocolate? If so, order early to avoid high two-day shipping costs.
The cost of these chocolates may surprise you. But if you’re looking for a little something special, we’ve got you covered. Here’s what we found.
First up is Lake Champlain Chocolates, out of Burlington Vermont.The Valentine Chocolate Truffles is five assorted truffles, lined up in a colorful box with a red ribbon.Cost for the candy is $16.50. Add shipping and tax. The total is $26.47.
Next is Godiva and the 6 piece Cherry Cordial package. Cost is $10 for the item. Add shipping and tax, the total is $19.44
Now to an expensive chocolatier: La Maison du Chocolate. This Parisian company, with U.S. locations, offers a box of four unique gourmet chocolates. Price is $18. There's a $17, 2-day delivery charge, but no tax. Total cost: $35.
Finally, a more economical and well-known candy maker is See's Candies. This Teddy Bear Heart has 18 pieces. Cost for the 9 oz. of candy is $13.25. Add shipping and tax you'll pay $19.08.
Many Chocolate companies won't ship on Fridays or deliver on Mondays because they don't want the candy sitting around the weekend. Be sure you take that into consideration when you order.
