DALLAS (AP) — Marches, speeches and concerts are part of celebrations across Texas to remember slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Organizers expected to attract more than 200,000 people for Monday's MLK march in San Antonio, billed as one of the largest in the country.
About 200 entries are part of the Dallas MLK march, followed by events at Fair Park including health screenings and information about attending college.
Austin's MLK celebration includes a community march. Participants are also asked to donate items to the Capital Area Food Bank.
Marches were planned Monday in Abilene and Houston. MLK celebrations began over the weekend in Houston, with a youth parade Saturday and a battle of the bands Sunday.
Monday was a King day of service in Corpus Christi, with volunteers helping others.
