CHANNELVIEW, Texas (FOX 26) - Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide unit investigators have filed a capital murder charge in the shooting death of 46-year-old Glen Wenzel at a construction site.
Kevin Shepherd, 24, was charged with no bond amount set for him.
Deputies had arrived to the site of the reported shooting on Pueblito Verde Way in east Harris County before noon on Wednesday. When deputies found Wenzel unresponsive, they performed CPR on him until emergency medical services arrived and pronounced him dead.
After reviewing surveillance video, deputies said they were searching for two suspects in a Dodge van. One suspect was described as a black male who stands at a height of 5-feet 11-inches tall with a green shirt, dark pants, a black cap and a mask. The second suspect was described as a black or Hispanic male with a medium build, blue shirt and a mask.
The silver Dodge van was later recovered on Rockcreek Lane near Fallow Lane in northeast Harris County.
Witnesses told deputies that the two suspects were carrying weapons and tried to rob Wenzel and one of his employees. When one of the suspects began to fight with Wenzel, witnesses said the employee ran away and the other suspect shot Wenzel.
