The judge in Lindsay Clancy’s murder case on Thursday denied the defense’s motion to declare her not guilty.

Judge William Sullivan said prosecutors had provided adequate evidence for a jury to decide whether Clancy was the person responsible for the killings.

The hearing saw the prosecutors involved looking at whether to retry the Massachusetts mother on murder charges, while her defense continues to push to have her case dismissed. Judge William Sullivan scheduled the status hearing after declaring a mistrial Sept. 4, when the 12-member jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on whether Lindsay Clancy should be convicted or found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Clancy returned to court on Sept. 29 for a hearing as prosecutors looked to decide whether to retry the Massachusetts mother on murder charges for the 2023 killings of her three young children, while her defense continues to push to have the case dismissed.

The backstory:
Clancy, 36, was arrested and charged with strangling her children; Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, with exercise bands in the basement of their Duxbury home in January 2023. She then tried to cut herself and jumped from a second story window in an attempt to kill herself, leaving her paralyzed.
