HOUSTON - A bomb squad responded to a southeast Houston home where a possible explosive device was found on Thursday morning, officials say.
What we know:
The incident unfolded in the 500 block of Gilpin Street near Frey Road.
Harris County Pct. 1 Constable Alan Rosen said detectives were conducting a search warrant when they found what appeared to be an explosive device with a wick.
Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement exited the home and called in a bomb squad.
The Houston Police Department’s Bomb Squad responded to the scene, retrieved the device and got it out of the house.
What we don't know:
It's still unclear exactly what the device was. Authorities will investigate further.
What's next:
Detectives are now going back into the house to execute the search warrant they were initially there for.
