CROSBY, Texas (FOX 26) - A 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning at his residence in Crosby, Texas, for allegedly making a series of terroristic threats against the University of Texas at Austin.
Sean Evan Haddon was booked into the Harris County Jail on Sunday morning and charged with the 3rd degree felony offense of Terroristic Threat.
Police believe Haddon is responsible for a series of threats called into the UTPD 9-1-1 Communication Center. On April 7, police say someone called the UTPD 9-1-1 Communication Center saying he had placed a pipe bomb in the University of Texas Police Department lobby. Police say the caller demanded bitcoin and the dispatcher's participation in sexual acts or he would blow up the building. The building was evacuated and no evidence of an explosive device was found.
On April 12, police say the same person called the UTPD 9-1-1 Communication Center and said he would shoot the dispatcher and told the dispatcher to perform sexual acts.
On April 13, a supervisor at The University of Texas at Austin Human Resource Service Center called the 9-1-1- Communication Center and reported being on the phone with a man who said he wanted to shoot "at least 200 people" at the university. UTPD responded to the HR center, and an officer took over the call. Police say the man told the officer he would "kill the first person he sees." The officer listened to a recording of the call from April 12 and believes it was the same person. Investigators contacted phone and internet providers and traced the call back to Sean Evan Haddon of Crosby, UTPD says. Detectives verified the man was not in the Austin area.
UTPD says each threat was investigated immediately and thoroughly and determined there was no threat that would have prompted a campus-wide communications.
