HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating after a woman was hit and killed by a vehicle in the southeast area late Sunday evening.
Deadly crash along I-45
What we know:
At around 8 p.m., Houston Police Department Sgt. Derrick Hall said officers were called to a reported traffic hazard involving a "scantily dressed" woman along the Gulf Freeway service Road near Airport Boulevard, just east of Hobby Airport.
Officers driving westbound did not see the woman, but when they made a U-turn to go eastbound on the service roads, they found her.
Sgt. Hall says the officer pulled into a nearby parking lot and asked the woman to get out of the roadway.
The woman immediately ran across the service road, across eastbound traffic, and crossed the HOV side. When she got to the westbound lanes, she was hit by an oncoming pickup truck.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office is on the scene to help identify the woman.
What we don't know:
Authorities have not yet released the identity or age of the victim.
