What we know:

NPS said the victim was found at noon Wednesday, about 2.5 miles up and 50 feet off the Mt. Brown Trail in a densely wooded area with downed trees. The male hiker’s injuries are consistent with a "bear encounter," officials said.

What we don't know:

NPS hasn’t released the man’s name yet, but authorities were searching this week for Anthony Pollio, a 33-year-old Florida man who went missing after planning a hike in the park.

Pollio said he had planned to hike to the Mt. Brown Fire Lookout. His last known communication was sent around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.

Yellowstone National Park bear attack

The fatal Glacier National Park encounter comes just days after two hikers were injured in a bear attack at Yellowstone National Park. The park said the attack happened on the Mystic Falls Trail near Old Faithful, but they didn’t release the extent of the hikers’ injuries or say how many bears were involved.
