HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The Coast Guard medevaced an injured fisherman after he was stuck in the head by gear aboard a 44-foot fishing vessel near Texas City, officials say.
According to the Coast Guard, on Thursday morning Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request for a medevac from a crew member aboard the Donnie J after the captain was injured.
A Coast Guard Station Galveston Response Boat-Small crew responded and transferred the injured fisherman to their boat and transported him to Station Galveston where they were met by awaiting emergency medical personnel.
A Station Galveston crew member was placed onboard the Donnie J to safely navigate the vessel back to Pier 21 in Galveston.
