GALVESTON, Texas (FOX 26) - Six children injured in the recent volcanic eruption in Guatemala will receive treatment at Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston.
A U.S. Air Force aircraft transporting the children is expected to arrive after midnight on Thursday.
The children will receive treatment for burns and other injuries sustained in the eruption.
A team of aeromedical evacuation, pediatric intensive care, and burn-victim treatment specialists will accompanying the children and their guardians as they make the trip on the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.
At least 99 people are confirmed dead after the eruption of Guatemala's Volcano of Fire, according to Guatemala's National Institute of Forensic Sciences.
