Harris County chase leaves innocent driver dead after suspect crashes stolen car

Authorities report one person is dead after a pursuit in Harris County on Friday.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says a Texas DPS Lieutenant requested assistance around 2:54 p.m. for a reported stolen white Ford F-250. Deputies with HCSO arrived at the intersection of Grand Parkway and Highway 290 and attempted a traffic stop with emergency equipment, lights, and sirens.

Officials say the vehicle did not stop and a nine-minute chase ensued for about 14 miles. The Ford exited on Grand Parkway, but primary units weren't able to exit in time so a second vehicle exited and continued on to the feeder.

Deputies eventually found the crash at involving the Ford at the intersection of Highway 249 and Grand Parkway. It appeared the suspect's vehicle hit another car on the driver's side.

Harris County officials say the driver of that car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect in the Ford was confirmed to be a 29-year-old white male and the Ford was said to be stolen from San Antonio. The suspect was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
