Houston weather: Flooding, severe storms across Houston on Thursday

HOUSTON - Thursday is a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day with multiple rounds of heavy rain and some severe storms.

Parts of Southeast Texas north and northeast of Houston picked up 5-11" of rain Sunday and Monday leading to lingering moderate to major flooding along the Trinity River and the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. Heavy rain and flooded roads continue across our northern viewing area on Thursday.

Weather Alerts

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Harris, Southern Liberty and South Central Montgomery counties until 2 p.m.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Northeastern Grimes, Northwestern Montgomery, and Walker counties until 2 p.m.

A Flood Watch is in effect through Friday afternoon for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Coastal Harris, Colorado, Grimes, Houston, Inland Harris, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington counties.

Stay off the roads to the north as flooding is likely.

Houston and cities southward are warm and mostly dry and have the chance for passing shower and isolated storm through midday.

Spotty downpours could trigger more flooding Friday before rain chances drop to 20% this weekend.  

Next week will feature less rain and more heat with temperatures in the 90s returning.
