The city of Houston’s public works director has been placed on administrative leave, after he was accused of making unlawful payments to a trustee from Houston Community College. 

 Karun Sreerama is accused of paying more than $77,000  HCC trustee Chris Oliver'. The payments are related to an extortion charge against the longtime trustee.. Oliver pleaded guilty to bribery and now faces up to ten years in prison.
