A deadly volcano erupts in Guatemala as volcanic activity continues on Hawaii's Big Island. Fiery explosions of ash and molten rock soar into the clouds from a volcano in Guatemala.  Towering clouds of smoke have blanketed surrounding villages -- and residents -- in thick, heavy ash.  It's all coming from the Volcan De Fuego -- Spanish for 'volcano of fire.' Sunday's eruption was reportedly the most violent in four decades. Many people did not make it out.

Emergency responders waded through grey ash to get to injured Guatemalans. The eruption also forced the closure of the only runway, at Guatemala city's international airport.  In the meantime, lava from the kilaeua volcano continues seeping through residential neighborhoods.  Officials are strongly urging homeowners in more areas to evacuate. Some people, like the Jordans are rethinking their decision to stay.

"We are subjected to showers of cinder every time this thing erupts. so we're 4,000 feet from the vent, but our yard is getting covered in black cinders."  Authorities warn of the danger to anyone who defies those evacuation orders.

Hawaii was rocked by a magnitude five-point-five earthquake Sunday--the strongest since a six-point-nine quake one month ago.
