Parents and students remain on high alert after threats were made to 6 Houston-area schools. A Friendswood Junior High student was arrested for a threatening post on social media. A Hargrove High school student and a League City Intermediate student were arrested for having guns on their campuses and threats of some sort were reported to school administrators. YES Preparatory, Crosby High School, Angleton Junior High and La Marque High School all had incidents of school threats yesterday.

School leaders say hoax threats are common after a mass shooting, and no one is taking chances. SSI Guardian is a local company that specializes in school security techniques. They're reaching out to local school districts about how to better secure schools, but also how to recognize warning signs and address the underlying causes that seem to lead to these shootings.

"Identify the threat indicators and to help the school districts create the proper policies and protocols in place, so when they recognize the threat indicators, they have established policies and how to handle them. knowing when to bring in mental health professionals, when to bring in law enforcement, etc," said Michael Yorio, SSI Guardian's president.

A Katy company has technology that can help responding officers know where exactly in a building gun shots are coming from, but of course, the goal and debate is about how to keep it from happening to begin with.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner also mentioned that metal detectors are possible solutions. "Had he gone through a metal detector, that would have been discovered."
