Hoping to curb use: Houston hosts synthetic marijuana summit

- The problem with synthetic marijuana has gotten so bad in Houston, the city hosted its first summit on the issue. It was led by the Council on Recovery and attended by well over 300 doctors, teachers, law enforcement officers and counselors.

Synthetic marijuana is any kind of leafy plant sprayed with a mixture of chemicals. It comes in packaging that entices teens and young adults.

Even though some forms of synthetic marijuana are technically legal, many are not. And all of them are much more dangerous than marijuana.

Synthetic marijuana can frequently be seen in smoke shops but also convenience stores.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency asks that if you see it on the shelf for sale, report it to the Houston D.E.A. Division at 713-693-3000.
