Family ties force Astros fans to root for Dodgers

Loyalty to one's sports team certainly runs deep, but how strong is that loyalty when your very own family is coaching for the opposing team?

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts' family is dealing with such tension.

It's not Team Astros that they're rooting against, though. They just love Team Family.

A family who prays together and cheers together, will stay together.

The proof, on Saturday (10/28) was a private family party of longtime Texans at the Golden Corral in Humble, Texas.

The family of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts agreeing that blood runs thicker than Orange.

"Once he made it to the big league, then you just follow the blood line," says cousin Angela Evans St. Julien who was at the family feast.

While managing a team in World Series, manager Dave Roberts' family is rooting for him not far from Minute Maid.

85 year old grandmother Lola Roberts remembers the successful manager as just a child.

"I saw him grow up and play Tee-ball, high school ball, college ball," says Lola.

Lola saying desire and ambition carried Dave through the ranks as an MLB player and now manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Lola not forgetting where she lives, though.

"I'm an Astros fan too, but right now I'm with Dave Roberts because he's my grandson," says Lola.

In March 2017, tragedy hitting the family as Dave Roberts lost his father who, according to family, attended as many games as he could to support his son.

"It's an emotional roller coaster for me. I want him to have the most achievements that he can get, but at the same time I want my city to have a victory. It's a tug of war," says cousin Dennis Evans.

Unsure of the outcome, this family is sure someone knows and they're okay leaving it in the hands of God.

"Only God knows and whatever he gives us, we'll accept it," says a hopeful Lola.
