Card skimmers found in seven pumps at Pasadena gas station

If you filled up at the pump in Pasadena using credit or debit card lately, you may want to check your account.

Pasadena police say card skimmers were found in seven gas pumps at the Seller's Brothers/Valero Convenience store at 10990 Red Bluff Road at Bay Area Blvd in Pasadena.

The skimmers were discovered after a store manager noticed the keypad at one of the pumps appeared to be broken and put in a work order to have it repaired. On Tuesday, the repair technician found the key pad had been pried open and a skimming device was installed. A total of seven devices were found in pumps numbered 1 and 11-16, police say. It is unknown how long the devices were in the machine.

Skimming devices collect credit and debit card information, which may be used to make unauthorized purchases. Police encourage anyone who has paid at the listed pumps to cancel their debit/credit cards and monitor their accounts.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to call Pasadena Police Department at (713)477-1221 or Crime Stoppers at (713)222-TIPS.
