Family of woman killed in hit-and-run searching for the drivers

Yvette Rojas was at home asleep when Sheriff deputies knocked on her door to inform her that her mother, Yolanda Herrera, had been killed by a hit-and-run driver in Santa Fe, Texas.

Santa Fe police are looking for a white Ford sedan that was going eastbound on Highway 6 near Webb Road on Saturday evening.

Police believe it struck 55-year-old Yolanda Herrera, who was found dead on the side of the road just after sundown. According to police, three or more other vehicles also hit Ms. Herrera without stopping. They are seeking information on the other drivers as well.

Another person spotted Herrera’s body and called police but had not seen the accident. Police hope someone who did will call in tips to Santa Fe police at 409-925-2000 or Galveston County Crime Stoppers at 409-736-8477.

Yvette says her mother was a loving person who would do anything for you and can’t believe that someone could hit her and just leave her to die.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help with Saturday’s funeral.
