Suspect sketch released in sexual assault of girl near library

The La Porte Police Department has released a sketch of a suspect in the April 29 alleged sexual assault of a girl near the La Porte Branch Library on South Broadway Street.

The girl was walking alone when the suspect approached her and assaulted her. She was able to provide information to police to help develop the suspect sketch. She also described the tattoo on the right wrist of the suspect as black in color and the written word "Date," not a numerical representation of a date. The victim also stated that the font of the tattoo reminded her of the font similar to the one on a Time magazine cover.

The victim also described in detail the "Lady" tattoo and explained that it is centrally located on the chest of the suspect and depicts a portrait of a woman from the collarbone up. This tattoo is also all black.

The girl told police she believes there was lettering "surrounding" the image of the woman. This lettering was also similar to the word "date" on the right wrist of the suspect. It is possible this writing extends across the suspect's chest.

The victim described the suspect as a white man with short brown hair, a stubbly beard, white skin and hazel eyes. He wore a black tank top with white "boxers." He is believed to be between 5-feet 3-inches to 5-feet 6-inches tall.

The La Porte Police Department is actively investigating the sexual assault case. Anyone with information that may help in identifying the suspect is encouraged to contact the La Porte Police Department by phone at 281-471-2141.
