Confederate plaque to be removed from Texas Capitol building

A Confederate plaque that hangs in the Texas State Capitol is coming down after a unanimous vote from the State Preservation board. Installed 60 years ago, the plaque displays a message rejecting slavery as the underlying cause of the Civil War.

State Representative Eric Johnson of Dallas started campaigning for the plaque's removal after the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.

Dr. Gene Preuss from the University of Houston - Downtown College of Humanities and Social Sciences discusses the significance of the unanimous vote with Isiah Carey.
