Agape Project helps Texas seniors and veterans with food, utilities and transportation

PASADENA, TX - A Houston-based group, called The Agape Project, Inc. is lending a helping hand to help our homebound Texas seniors and veterans.  Jana Calhoun and Laura Moody are the founders behind this heartfelt mission. The Agape Project, Inc. is currently focusing on seniors in the Pasadena and Deer Park area since so many elderly in this area are in desperate need after Hurricane Harvey. 

"Since Hurricane Harvey, the local government programs have exhausted their budgets.  That leaves many of the homebound elderly individuals without any help to prepare meals, shop for necessities, and take care of basic needs, " Calhoun said. Volunteers and trained representatives do "well checks" on these individuals and assesses their living situation, helping them apply for any programs that are available to them and fulfills any immediate needs that they have. 

"The Agape Project, Inc. has provided walkers, groceries, cleaning services, utility assistance, pharmacy assistance and have been an advocate for the elderly here." 

Calhoun added, "For the homebound population, they don't often have access to the internet. We meet them where they are, and we come to them. We bring them food--sign them up for services, such as transportation, utility service, whatever they need."
