The Houston Dynamo extended the contract of head coach Wilmer Cabrera and signed vice president/general manager Matt Jordan to a new deal.
Cabrera had one year left on the guaranteed portion of his original two-year contract and has been extended for two years.
Jordan, whose original three-year contract had expired, has been signed to a new three-year deal.
Cabrera and Jordan are tied to the Dynamo organization through the 2020 season.
“Matt and Wilmer have a proven track record of success working together,” said Chris Canetti, Dynamo president, in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. They have a collective plan and vision for our team, and we have full belief in their ability to execute that plan and vision and bring success to us into the future.”
Jordan and Cabrera led the Dynamo to within one series of the MLS Cup last season.
“Together they did a fantastic job in 2017, and that included identifying a style of play and building a roster around players that fit that style of play,” Canetti said. “The roster is built for long-term success, based around a crop of very young and talented players.
“Wilmer is known as a master of developing young talent. We have a head coach and a GM who are aligned. They’ve brought in players who we’ve made big investments in, young guys, (forward) Alberth Elis, (forward) Mauro Manotas, (midfielder) Tomas Martinez.
"We’ve made investments in these young guys in belief that we can develop them and be successful short and long-term.”
