Was That Fake? - national Mango Board

Was That Fake?

A photo shows what appears to be North Korean leader Kim Jong Un laughing while reading the Michael Wolff book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House." That image is yet another masterpiece courtesy of Adobe Photoshop. It is modified from an existing photo of the leader taken in 2015.

Was That Fake?

Katy-based Proxy Realty asked FOX 26 The News Edge anchor Kaitlin Monte on Twitter asking if it is true that the U.S. has a national mango board tasked with promoting mango consumption in the country. The tweet included a link to JudicialWatch.org with an article that claims the board has 18 members and a $6.7 million budget. Judicial Watch is a real group based in Washington, D.C. that investigates government corruption, hence, a reputable website rather than a parody site.

A page on the U.S. Department of Agriculture marketing services site is dedicated to the National Mango Board, which confirms its existence, including the aforementioned budget. It also links to the public website Mango.org, which offers recipes, techniques for selecting mangoes and how to cut them. The board has been operating since 2006.
