KATY, Texas (FOX 26) — The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department is reporting that at least one person has died following an airplane crash in west Harris County.
The four-seat aircraft was inbound toward West Houston Airport when it crashed into a partially-wooded area near the intersection of Westerpine Lane and Blossom Berry Court in the Katy area.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is establishing a perimeter around the crash site. The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation and inspectors with the Federal Aviation Administration are on their way.
The number of occupants on the plane has not been released. Centerpoint Energy is working to restore service near the crash site as the plane may have struck a power line.
