Local DJ speaks out after cousin allegedly shot by uncle

A family is grieving after a 17-year-old was allegedly shot and killed by his uncle.

DJ SupaStar, who regularly appears on The Isiah Factor Uncensored, says her family is trying to make sense of it all.

"We all feel like we are stuck in a dream right now, you know everything happened so fast, and so senseless to where everybody is still in shock,“ DJ SupaStar, whose real name is Zelma T. Lee, tells FOX 26.

On Monday, police said 17-year-old Drew Conley and his 52-year-old uncle were arguing, and threatening each other. It turned deadly when Conley allegedly went into his uncle’s room to confront him.

The uncle states he feared for his safety, grabbed a rifle and shot his nephew in the leg. Conley, who was a senior and defensive back for the school’s football team, was taken to the hospital, but died from the injury.

“No matter how irritated or upset you get, there is no 17-year-old that can push you to the limit to pull a gun out and shoot," Lee says.

Marshall High School issued a statement that read in part, “Our deepest condolences and thoughts go out to the family and friends of our MHS student. I ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The football team pushed out a simple tweet, which said "#remember3", and retweeted that the team they are playing against on Friday, the Calallen Wildcats, will wear the Number 3 in Conley’s honor.

As for his family, Lee says they are not letting this incident divide them.

“The family, everybody is standing by murder. It was not self-defense. Drew didn’t have anything in his hands at all, and it was just pointless," Lee says.

Houston police have not named the uncle, and it’s not clear yet if he will face charges.
