George H.W. Bush's final pair of socks

- George H.W. Bush will be remembered for many things, including his presidency, his service as a World War II aviator, his time in the CIA, his love of family -- but also his unique fashion statement: his socks.

Bush was known for always wearing socks with bright colors, crazy patterns and even photos.

It is only fitting that Bush would wear special socks to his final resting place.

Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted Monday morning, "The 41st President will be carried to his final rest wearing socks that pay tribute to his lifetime of service, starting as an 18 year-old naval aviator in war. That legacy is now being carried, in part, by the brave, selfless men and women aboard [USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77)]."

When his wife Barbara passed away, Bush wore a pair of socks adorned with books at her funeral, honoring her commitment to family literacy.

Bush wore socks special for every occasion from Houston Texans games to his birthdays to meetings and even to just hang out with his dog Sully.

At the Celebration of Life event Monday night, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner is urging everyone to wear their own colorful socks, in honor of the presidential style icon.
