8 neighborhood restoration centers, slated to open for Hurricane Harvey victims

-

The city of Houston is expanding a program to bring much-needed services to flood victims still recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has announced the city will open 8 eight additional neighborhood restoration centers.

"We are taking a neighborhood by neighborhood approach to getting assistance to the many people who need it," the mayor said. In November, the city and the Baker Ripley non-profit organization opened a pilot version of a Neighborhood Restoration Center at the Kashmere Multi-Service Center at 4802 Lockwood Drive on the northeast side.

Through these new neighborhood restoration centers, Houstonians will be assisted with disaster case management and vital services such as temporary housing assistance, legal aid, mental health and wellness care, home repair and rebuilding information and employment help.
