Rockets viewing party sells out, benefits Santa Fe Strong Memorial Fund

For anyone who couldn’t travel to Oakland for game six of the NBA Western Conference Finals, waiting in line to get inside the Toyota Center was a great alternative. Fans could get seats and even sit courtside to watch the Houston Rockets take on the Golden State Warriors.

"I mean, it is awesome, the feeling in here with it being sold out is just amazing," says Marita Henney. "We are definitely happy we were able to get tickets before it was sold out."

"We are around other fans -- it is just a better feel for the game," said Andy Garcia.

"Everyone here is trying to get loud, so that is one thing to look forward to," said Lorenzo Balderas.

The viewing party served a greater purpose as well. Each ticket represented a $10 donation that directly benefited the Santa Fe Strong Memorial Fund. The event raised $100,000 in total.

"The cause of Santa Fe has been huge for our owner and is huge to the organization, such a huge thing for the city and to be able to do that was just a no brainer and so to be able to raise $100,000.00 plus or more is just great, it just makes you feel great," said Houston Rockets vice president of marketing Ken Sheirr.

Fans who attended the event had the opportunity to win prizes and enjoy appearances by the Rockets Power Dancers, the Rockets Launch Crew, DJ TGray and Clutch the Bear.
