Houston police search for cyclist accused of shooting driver

Houston police are searching for a cyclist accused of shooting and killing a driver on Wednesday.

Police are investigating after a person was found shot in a crashed car in southeast Houston on Wednesday morning.

Deadly shooting, crash on Comal Street

What we know:

According to police, the incident was reported in the 7900 block of Comal Street at around 10:45 a.m.

Someone called 911 to report that a person was shot in a vehicle and hit a pole. The person in the car has been pronounced deceased.

Houston Comal Street shooting, crash: Full police report

A driver was pronounced deceased following a shooting that led to a crash in Southeast Houston on Wednesday. Houston Police Detective Cory Sharp provided information at the scene.

According to Detective Cory Sharp, the driver of the vehicle was shot during a confrontation with a person on a bicycle. 

The cyclist allegedly shot the driver and fled the scene. The driver then struck a telephone pole.

What we don't know:

The victim has not been identified at this time. Det. Sharp described the victim as a Black man in his mid-40's, but he remains unnamed.

Authorities have not confirmed a description of the suspect.

A resident near the scene reported a break-in at their home, but it's not clear if the break-in is related to the shooting.
