LA PORTE, Texas - A driver is dead after a crash on Independence Parkway near La Porte on Wednesday morning, authorities say.

What we know:
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, two vehicles were involved in a crash in the 1900 block of Independence Parkway S around 6 a.m.
Investigators say a black Ford sedan was traveling southbound and tried to make a U-turn to go northbound. That's when, authorities say, a white Ford F-150 that was traveling southbound hit the car on the driver's side. The car then spun around.
The driver of the sedan died at the scene.
What we don't know:
The drivers have not been identified at this time.
