Suspect arrested for bomb threat at SXSW Bud Light event

The Austin Police Department has arrested a suspect for making a bomb threat. 26-year-old Trevor Weldon Ingram was taken into custody on Saturday, March 17, 2018. 

Ingram is charged with making a terroristic threat, a third degree felony. 

According to APD, the bomb threat was sent via email to a Live Nation Music representative regarding the Fair Market event venue located at 1100 East 5th Street in downtown Austin. 

A SXSW event, Bud Light x The Roots & Friends Jam, was scheduled to take place there. 

The Austin Police Department began monitoring the threat and responded to the location. Police officers conducted a complete sweep of the venue and no threat was found. 

In the interest of SXSW attendees' safety, Bud Light canceled the event.

"The safety of all fans at SXSW is our most important priority,"the company said in a tweet.

 

 

SXSW also released a statement on Twitter apologizing to SXSW attendees for the inconvenience and expressing appreciation for their understanding. 

 

 

The Austin Police Department released a statement saying there were no indications of any broader security concern for any activities relating to this incident.

The Roots are the house band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
