HOUSTON (FOX 26) — Houston Independent School District trustee Jolanda Jones confirms to FOX 26 News that the district received two letters from the Texas Education Agency: one to suspend the search for a new permanent superintendent, the second an investigation regarding some board trustees who did not follow procurement process rules when it comes to contracts.
Houston ISD conservator Doris Delaney has issued a directive to trustees and administrators to suspend the district’s superintendent search temporarily until the Special Accreditation Investigation is completed.
The TEA also confirmed to FOX 26 News that there is an investigation that was launched in January, but would not comment on it or provide any details since it is ongoing.
Texas State Senator Borris Miles released the following statement regarding the TEA order:
I commend the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for stepping in to take drastic, but necessary measures regarding Houston Independent School District's (HISD) superintendent search and for putting the students' interests first.
