Governor Abbott's controversial campaign mailer - What's Your Point?

On the day before the El Paso shooting, Governor Greg Abbott sent out a campaign mailer warning his supporters that Democrats planned to "transform" Texas through "illegal immigration." The campaign material went on to urge his followers to "defend Texas" by taking "matters into their own hands." 

Critics say the Governor's rhetoric is alarmingly similar to that found in the El Paso gunman's on-line manifesto.
