LAREDO, Texas (FOX 26 / STORYFUL) — World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma performed along the U.S.-Mexico border crossing on Saturday to begin a Day of Action to highlight shared culture and humanity in troubled times.
Footage posted on Twitter by Pamela Ruiz shows a brief portion of one of Ma’s performances near one of the border bridges in Laredo, Texas. Ma included some of Bach’s cello suites in his performance, which was part of an event held jointly by Laredo and its adjoining border city, Nuevo Laredo, in Mexico, to celebrate the shared culture of the two cities.
Today at the scary, scary border Laredoans spent a beautiful morning with Yo-Yo Ma. Across the river is Mexico, where another performance is being held for the residents of Nuevo Laredo. This is life on the border, please don’t believe otherwise. pic.twitter.com/joGqJhN6VW— mazapam 🌹 (@pamelurz) April 13, 2019
