Simulating driving under the influence

Two in three people will be involved in a drunk-driving crash in his or her lifetime, according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Other MADD statistics include the following:

  • A person is injured in a drunk driving crash every 120 seconds.
  • 28 people die as a result of drunk driving crashes each day in the U.S.

To help prevent these tragic traffic crashes, MADD has introduced the DUI Simulator, with first responders conducting live demonstrations, in addition to people who have first-hand experience dealing with loss and tragedy from impaired driving cases sharing their testimonial stories.

The DUI Simulator allows people to experience impairment at different blood alcohol content levels.

The 6th annual Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Northshore Park in The Woodlands. The MADD event helps raise awareness and funds to "eliminate drunk driving and keep families and communities safe." Funds raised are used locally to help victims of drunk driving crashes with emotional support as well as medical and legal struggles, to conduct programs that increase awareness and prevent drunk driving and underage drinking, and to support law enforcement in their work to keep roads safe.
