Vote for Houston Astros general manager to win Best Executive Award

- Support Houston Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow by voting for him to win the Esurance MLB Best Executive Award. He is among ten candidates for the honor.

Astros fans can place their votes by visiting https://securea.mlb.com/mlb/awards/y2017/mlb-awards/#bestExecutive. Esurance MLB awards are voted on by fans, Major League Baseball legends, media, front-office personnel and SABR members. The Esurance MLB Best Executive Award is one of several that are presented each year.

Luhnow, who joined the Astros as GM in December 2011, played an instrumental role in securing the first World Series championship in franchise history. Prior to the 2017 season, the Astros signed free agents Charlie Morton, Carlos Beltran and Josh Reddick and traded for veteran catcher Brian McCann. On Aug. 31, Luhnow then completed one of the most significant deals in franchise history, acquiring two-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander from the Detroit Tigers. These new acquisitions supplemented the young core players that included Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, George Springer and Dallas Keuchel to help lead the Astros to 101 regular season wins and ultimately, to the World Series title.

Fan voting for the Best Manager Award will begin on Nov. 14 with AJ Hinch expected to be among the candidates eligible. All winners will be announced live on MLB Network on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. CT.

MLB Network will announce the winners of the 2017 Baseball Writers Association of America Awards during live broadcasts next week, Nov. 13-16. Each show will begin at 5 p.m. CT.

AJ Hinch is one of three finalists for the AL Manager of the Year Award, which will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Jose Altuve is one of three finalists for the AL MVP Award, which will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 16. The Rookie of the Year Award winners will be announced on Monday, Nov. 13, while the Cy Young Award winners will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
