UConn's Cassell Jr. fondly remembers father's time in Houston

Sunday was the first time UConn guard Sam Cassell Jr. played a collegiate game in the city where his father is regarded as a Houston Rockets hero.

Sam Cassell is remembered fondly for his key contributions to the Rockets' two championship teams in the 1990's. Cassell Jr. did not actually grow up in Houston, but he has fond memories of the city.

"I get a lot of love here just because of what my dad did with the Rockets back then," Cassell Jr. told FOX 26 Sports. "I will always love Houston."

When asked what his father told him about his Houston championship days, Cassell Jr. said, "Just get the ball to Dream. Dream would just handle the rest."

"Dream," of course, is referring to Rockets Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon.

Cassell Jr. is currently a redshirt junior guard with UConn. His Huskies beat Houston on Sunday 69-57.
