Sheryl Swoopes elected to Naismith Memorial Basketbal Hall of Fame

- Sheryl Swoopes, former Texas Tech and Houston Comets star, has been elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in her first time on the ballot sources told FOX 26 Sports.

Swoopes, who is the head women’s basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago, helped lead the Comets to four consecutive WNBA championships.

Her resume also includes three Olympic gold medals, an NCAA championship with Texas Tech, along with winning the WNBA's MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Award three times each.

The Hall of Fame will officially announce its 2016 class on Monday during the NCAA Men’s Final Four in Houston.
