Selection Sunday public viewing party at Discovery Green

NCAA Final Four 2016 in Houston

There is no 2016 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® in Houston with the round of 68 and Sunday is the day that college basketball fans look forward to all season long when they learn if their team will be in 'The Big Dance.' The Houston Local Organizing Committee for the 2016 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® will host a public viewing party for Selection Sunday on Fondren Lawn of the Discovery Green AB Stage from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The 68 Division I Men’s College Basketball Teams competing in the tournament will be announced. Houston-based band The Slags will perform live once the selection process has come to an end.

Final Four institutions’ band, cheer and dance teams will also join in the festive atmosphere. Representatives from two Houston-area university teams will be at the event in hopes that their team will be chosen and they will learn what regional bracket they will play in.

Graffiti artist Gonzo will share his own interpretation of the NCAA bracket in the form of a 20-feet-wide-by-8-feet-tall piece of art that will travel from Discovery Green and tour the city as teams advance in the bracket.

The Selection Sunday party will include games, giveaways, along with food and drink (for sale). In cooperation with NCAA Corporate Partner LG Electronics USA and EPC (Executive Personal Computers), a free Electronics Recycling Drive will take place from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Discovery Green in conjunction with the Selection Sunday Celebration. Participants can bring in electronics to receive a free ticket to Final Four Fan Fest presented by Capital One.
